  • Dear Event Coordinator

I’m Durwood Mayfield with the nonprofit organization, BikeTexas, the only statewide bicycle safety advocacy organization in Texas. We seek to increase bicycle access, safety, and education throughout the state, making cycling better for ALL cyclists. While cyclists are our main focus, many of our efforts also benefit runners and pedestrians. To this end, I’m contacting you about distributing some of our materials at your Texas Independence Bike Tour .

BikeTexas offers four specialty license plates to Texas drivers. The sales of these plates help fund our Safe Routes to School, Share the Road, and Texas Trails Programs, all of which benefit runners, pedestrians, and cyclists by providing safe and accessible areas for recreation and by educating all road users on the importance of sharing the road.

We know that most of the athletes at The Texas Independence Bike Tour use Texas roads and trails for training and many cyclist also turn to running for cross training. Plus, almost all runners and cyclist are also drivers. With this in mind, we’d love to let your athletes know of this opportunity to help make Texas a better place for runners, walkers, and cyclists.

May we send our license plate flyers to be distributed at the The Texas Independence Bike Tour?

Finally, we would like to share a great opportunity for your organization to join hundreds of others throughout the state by becoming a BikeTexas Event Member. Not only will you help by supporting BikeTexas, and raising awareness of our statewide advocacy initiatives, but your organization will also benefit from our promotional resources reaching over 20,000 Texas supporters and more via our social media.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Please contact Durwood Mayfield at durwood@biketexas.org with number of participants expected, physical address,(no PO Boxes) and phone number for shipping purposes. Please be sure to include your deadline for receipt of inserts. For questions or more information please email us, or call the BikeTexas office at 512-476-7433.

    Thanks Durwood
