By Rick Ankrum, on May 2, 2012, 12:53 pm One spring ritual in east Texas and southeast Texas is the arrival of the “love bugs”. Today on my bike ride as I turned off of Community Drive onto Loop 494 I started to see love bugs in the air. You may see cars and trucks with their front ends covered in multitudes of squished [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on May 1, 2012, 3:37 pm I liked starting early on yesterday’s ride and I wanted to repeat this again today but I did not get out of the driveway until 10:39. The temperature had not made it to the 80′s yet so the first few miles felt cool until I got my body heat up and the sun warmed things [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on April 30, 2012, 2:08 pm I began today’s ride at 9:46, earlier than my typical time. The wind speed at 9 mph meant the ride should not be battle but the higher humidity (78%) offset some of that benefit. This did drop down to 62% by the time I finished at 11:53 AM. Mostly cloudy skies kept the sun hidden [...]

About Texbiker.net Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.
My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.
Thanks to my wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.
In 1999 Texbiker.net was born to help my fellow bikers have ready access to all of the information about the Texas bicycling scene.
