The race consisted of 400 miles in a big loop around the Texas Hill Country. Only 10 individual cyclists started the 400, most opting for the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153short\u00e2\u20ac\u009d 214 mile route. Six of us finished.<br \/>\nBy the numbers, it took me 28 hours and 57 minutes to cover the course, including stops for food and a 20-minute nap. Once rolling at 7:45 am I let Google Maps lead me out of town. I am glad I did as the shortest route was Texas 270 which ran south of the Adventure Cycling route.<br \/>\nFirst up was a quiet ride through Schriener University, which is a small Liberal Arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church. It must have been spring break as the campus was deserted.<br \/>\nWhen I realized that highway 270 would take me all the way to Johnson City I thought, why do I need to beat myself up on the slower, and hillier Adventure Cycling route?
