I rode 33.91 miles to start June off. My goal is 800 miles. Only 767 more to ride.

Another bicyclist passed me on Kings View Drive as I was on the way back home. At least two of us didn’t let the roaming dark clouds scare us away. The was cloudy with spots of dark gray clouds not too far away. The only time I felt a few rain drops (maybe 10) was while I rode west from Huffman on FM 1960. The humidity was high (71%) which meant my jersey was dripping whenever I stopped. The temperature at the 11:40 AM start was 79 and 83 when I finished at 2:30. The wind was not very friendly from the SE at 15 mph and 21 mph gusts (IAH airport numbers). This made pedaling hard. The Blue Norcross AL is about 7 pounds heavier than my Stradalli RP-14 carbon bike and the wider (700×32) tires with short knobby tread makes for high effort biking.

So far the PowerPod doesn’t accompany when I ride this bike. I have an extra handlebar mount but haven’t decided on using it. Maybe I don’t want to see the extra watts it takes to move the bike.

I took a 15 minute or so break at the Huffman Chevron. I sat under the pump canopy drinking ice water and watching the UPT truck unload gasoline in the station’s tanks. I wondered how the driver kept the right gasoline in the correct filler hole. He was moving hoses all over the ground connecting and unconnecting them.

The weather looks favorable for more bike riding tomorrow. The chance of rain dropped from what was showing earlier in the week.

[iframe http://rwgps-embeds.com/trips/14987681/embed 80% 600px]

Strava extended statistics

The Blue Norcross AL was the ride of choice on today’s bike ride on the “Atascocita South – Walden – Huffman” route.
