Bicyclist expected to recover after crashing into police vehicle just west of downtown<\/a><\/h2>\n

SAN ANTONIO \u2013 A bicyclist was taken to an area hospital after he ran a stop sign and crashed into a police vehicle early Thursday morning, San Antonio police said.<\/p>\n

The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. near the intersection of West Martin Street and North Navidad Street, just west of downtown.<\/p>\n

According to police, a man in his 20s on a bicycle blew through the stop sign and crashed into the side of an oncoming police cruiser. No other vehicles were involved.<\/p>\n

Melanie Salinas noticed there were a lot of active cyclists in downtown Corpus Christi, but the closest bike shop was Bay Area Bicycles on Airline and South Padre Island Drive.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought bringing this type of service to the downtown area would promote the active lifestyle those downtown residents have,\u201d Salinas said.<\/p>\n
