Facing growth, San Marcos new transportation master plan aims for more walking, biking

Confronted with continued population growth, San Marcos City Council adopted an updated transportation master plan Dec. 11 in an effort to ensure the city’s transportation system becomes safer, less congested and environmentally friendly as the city continues to grow.
According to city officials, the plan was created with socioeconomic data from the City of San Marcos 2013 Comprehensive Plan “Vision San Marcos: A River Runs Through Us†in mind. This is the first time the transportation master plan has been updated since 2004. …

Alleged bicycle theft and trespassing brought police to the 1500 block of Bolivar Street on Saturday morning.
One victim told officers he noticed a man attempting to steal a bicycle from his backyard and intervened to stop him, according to a police report. The suspect then allegedly left without incident and walked down the street. …
Bikes 4 Kids event gives bicycles to needy children

SALADO, Texas – Bikes 4 Kids held their annual gala in Salado on Monday night.
The organization collects used bikes and repurposes them.
This year, they collected around 70 bikes – 50 of which will be fixed up and given to children in need.
