About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

What Happened to the Flashing Blue LED Indoor Cycling Workout?

Texbiker.net Posted on January 6, 2018 by Rick AnkrumJanuary 6, 2018

Fifth indoor workout ride this week. The new Cycleops Fluid Trainer should arrive on Tuesday about the same time the weather warms up for a couple of days and then drops back to winter conditions at least for me.

The workout got off to a bad start with the speed sensor not showing up on the Elemnt computer. Removing the sensor, reversing the battery did not help. Next I replaced the battery but the sensor would not come to life but the next new battery caused the little blue LED to start flashing. I have removed the speed sensor from the rear wheel so many times lately that I can put it back the hub quickly even though my fingers don’t fit very well. The battery that worked is Energizer but the one that failed was also an Energizer and only used once or twice after I installed it earlier this week when I had the same problem. I guess I need a battery tester.

Today I did intervals. The spikes in the screenshot below are when I increased my effort to about 23 mph for a few seconds. The watts jumped as well.

As I rode I watched the outside temperature increase from about 50 to 60 degrees by the time I finished. The forecast shows a high of 71 tomorrow, Sunday. I hope to ride outdoors for the first time this year. To help stay cool during today’s workout I used a fan about 10 feet away. It felt cool when I slowed down but kept the perspiration contained.
