Once I decided to make my trip to big bend I realized that I had to do something creative to get the most enjoyment out of this trip. The closest place to fly I. Is El Paso But the. You are faced with a two or three day ride to get off the major highway.
I toyed with the idea of taking the train but it didn’t go exactly where I wanted to start. Plus I have heard numerous reports of the train being 4 hours late. And there was some questio of whether I could load the bike at that station. The bus was t any better requiring a transfer and many hours of down time.

Next weekend’s Chihuahuan Desert Bike Fest will offer something for all mountain bikers, from beginner to experienced.
The three-day mountain bike event traverses more than 200 miles of the terrain of Big Bend Ranch State Park, Big Bend National Park and Lajitas Resort.
Now in its sixth year, the Feb. 11-13 is organized by Desert Sports in Terlingua in partnership with Big Bend Ranch State Park and Lajitas Resort.

BROWNWOOD, Texas – A former Department of Public Safety investigator is riding his bicycle more than 300 miles to honor fallen DPS Sgt. William Karl Keesee.
Keesee was killed on Oct. 2015 when his car crashed near Goldthwaite. Retired DPS trooper Brent Morris will ride in his memory during the annual Police Unity Tour in May, when thousands of people ride from New Jersey to Washington D.C.
