The cold weather wasn’t the only source of the chill in the air Monday night along Waugh Drive. Sure, the air had that damp feel that floats across Houston from time time in November and December.

We will meet at Bo’s at normal time, but this will NOT be a “Fast Thursday” pace. We will be rolling at 7:30p at 12-14 mph and head straight for the zoo. The tickets are $20.00/pp to see the lights.
If you are bringing kids, please make sure that they will be able to keep the 12-14 mph pace. We will be on city streets and for safety purposes will not be rolling any slower than 12 mph. Please make sure bikes are equip with front and rear lights.

So far, the Toys for Tots campaign in Denton County is on par with last year’s efforts, and organizers said they hope this year’s toy drive can be one of their best yet.
On Monday, an estimated $9,000 worth of toys were dropped off at First Baptist Church of Denton for the church’s Elves Shelves program, and that’s just the beginning, say organizers with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

Monday Maintenance Clinic: Returning this winter, Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop will hold weekly classes for anyone looking to learn the basics of bicycle maintenance. The classes are from 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday and cover topics like flat repair, basic derailleur adjustments, and necessary tools for riding. This event, however, requires that patrons RSVP beforehand, which they can do by emailing Bill, the shop manager at bill@mellowjohnnys.com. More info here.
Bikin’ Betties: This Monday evening social ride is for women only. Rides range from 8 to 20 miles through a unique route every week, and the events usually end with a few beers. Keep up with the Betties on their Facebook page.
