Owen from TuesdayBikeNight found this in 1964’s Venture World Traveler at a Denton thrift store. I think the author is *the* Peter Bart. The article is about college kids going abroad, but I mostly dig the graphic and typography. Cool find.

Bicyclist comments concern readers, riders
from www.yourhoustonnews.com
To the editor:
I was disturbed when I read the letter from Blake Brown concerning bicyclists on the roadways. This letter contained open threats that run counter to the laws of the state of Texas.
I suggest Brown read the Texas Transportation Code as it applies to bicycles and he will find that bicyclists have every right to use the Texas roadways and to enjoy a safe passage in doing so. A bicyclist does not have to ride on a shoulder if there is none, but that does not mean the bicyclist cannot ride on the roadway. A bicyclist should expect… More

Memorial Park Crit #6 2011
by Ken      Texas Racing Life
With last week’s criterium getting cancelled due to lightning and rain, I was ready and motivated to race hard this week!
The weatherman was threatening rain all morning, but I prayed hard to the cycling Gods that we could race. Evidently it worked, and the only offering I gave up was pounds of sweat, as the heat index was over 105 degrees F. In the P123 field, there were about 30 guys, with a great group of Shamas cheering Jon and I on. …More
The sky was darkening to the east and the thunder was… – July 14th Bike Ride
The sky was darkening to the east and the thunder was off in the distance so my plan for a shorter ride was a good one. Originally I was riding a shorter route because today’s Tour de France stage was a monster and the recording was long but the rain threat was one more reason. The 93 degrees and 100 degree heat index were in line with the past few days and it looks like for the next several ones as well. Wind was 13 mph from the south which is where the rain was located. As I rode back home I felt rain drops every so often. Today’s 19.66 miles was slight ly less than the 20 mile goal but if you round up it is 20. My average speed of 15.1 mph and the max speed of 20.8 mph seemed low but with the shorter route I did not have enough distance to overcome the slow speeds getting out of the neighborhoods. July miles are 279.78 and year to date miles are 3118.87 and the week to date is 69.04.
