About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Bear Creek Crit #4 2011 P/1/2/3
by Ken Texas Racing Life
After a disappointing Belterra Crit, I was wary of my fitness for this race.  I have ridden the course only once before.  I went into the racing hoping to gain some fitness and stay with the main pack.  Some attacking was in order!

I had two teammates in the race, Eric and Bill, but knew they were tired from the hard 3/4 race just before the open race.  I was on my own!  Starting in the back, I gradually moved up to the front and saving my energy for…

Memorial Park Criterium #1 2011
by Ken Texas Racing Life
The Memorial Park Crit has become one of my most beloved things about living and racing in Houston,TX.  It is not the best course ever, but it has an endearing quality and tradition that comes from having the race every summer for 19 years.  I only discovered the Wednesday night Criterium last year when I moved to Houston.  The course winds through the picnic loop of Memorial Park (MPPL) and keeps things exciting with tire-width cracks and solid wood posts along the corners.  It is held every Wednesday night, June through August. The promoters…
