About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

I caught up with three bikers on… – March 16th Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on March 16, 2011 by Rick AnkrumMarch 16, 2011

Not too long after I left work on the evening drive home I caught up with three bikers on Enclave Parkway at Eldridge Parkway. They turned right onto the bike path along Eldridge and I turned onto Eldridge to head home. They had the advantage of starting their ride about an hour and 15 minutes sooner than I would tonight but their traffic was heavier than what I ride in. So I guess there is a trade off. I drive 42 miles from work to home. With most of the schools out for spring break traffic on the drive home has been somewhat lighter so I have been able to get home earlier which has allowed me to get a jump on the evening ride. The weather has been cooperating as well. 74 degrees when I started, no breeze to speak of but cloudy skies with a peek of sun. Should be more of the same tomorrow.

I have been having trouble uploading my Garmin Edge 305 data to the Garmin Connect website so I am going to not use that for awhile and rely on the SportTracks training log instead. This will probably save me 15 minutes each time I do this.

March mileage update:

  • March miles 170.69
  • YTD miles 695.86
