About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

This generous donation will continue to help cancer survivors live life on their own terms and build and support programs and initiatives to help raise awareness of and improve the lives of the 28 million people living with cancer today.

Every flag I saw today… – February 20th Bike Ride

Texbiker.net Posted on February 20, 2011 by Rick AnkrumFebruary 20, 2011

The wind kicked up today from yesterday’s ride. Every flag I saw today was standing straight out from the 16+ mph south wind. This was great for the first part of the ride when I had a tailwind. When I tuned into the wind I could tell my muscles were not ready after yesterday’s ride to move at more than a crawl. The 76 degrees and mostly cloudy skies made me think spring had arrived. I hope this is the case but I should know better. No other riders today.

Ride mileage as of today:

  • February miles 217.6
  • YTD miles 435.59

2-20-2011 Ride data

Early Season CAUTION !
from Home by mike.emmons@verizon.net (Mike Emmons)
A lot of us are not riding the miles that we had been and with the bad weather in the last few weeks, fitness has slipped for some of us and our reflexes are not quite what they were before the winter hiatus.  Add to that the sand and increased potholes and you will certainly see more riders doing scary things and making poor…

Fish Creek continues north over FM2854
from WCC by sschoger@comcast.net (Steve Schoger)
OK, good news and bad news!  Fish Creek will be continued northbound, without having to exit left onto Leah and then to Honea Egypt and then to 2854.  The bridge over FM2854 and the rail road tracks (Fish Creek had previously dead-ened before these two E-W transit ways) will be dedicated and opened up to vehicle traffic on Wednesday, February 23rd.  Precinct 2 Commissioner Craig Doyle, a friend of cyclists…
