Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Online Registration Closes Wednesday, March 02, 2011 at 11:00 PM ET
Second race on same day is only $10.

Race Details:

·  Directions from IH-35 (North of Austin) go west on FM 1431, 21 miles to Lago Vista. Go left (south) on Lohman’s Ford Road for 3 miles, then right on Boggy Ford for 2 miles, then left on American Drive to Start/Finish.

·  Same racing schedule for both days. 5.5 mile loop: clockwise on Saturday, counter-clockwise on Sunday.

·  Preregistration: Go online to http://www.bikereg.com/, and make sure that you register for the correct day and race category! Online pre-registration fees apply.

·  Packet Pickup/Late Registration: Friday 2-6pm Nelo’s Cycles, 8108 Mesa Drive, Friday night at Lago Vista near Start/Finish, 8pm to midnight. Saturday/Sunday opens at 6:30am at the start/finish area & closes 15 minutes before each race. ($10 one-time surcharge for race day registration covers both days of racing–Juniors are exempt from the Late Fee!)

·  One day & Annual & New licenses are available at registration for category 4 Women and category 5 Men

COURSE DESCRIPTION
FLAT ROCK RANCH is located just outside of Comfort, Texas in the beautiful Texas hill country. The Dreiss Family has owned and operated the ranch for over 100 years. Beginning in1999, STORM has built and maintained mountain bike trails at Flat Rock Ranch. There are over 25 miles of sweet single-track with epic switchback climbs, technical sections and sustained descents. The trails offer stunning views of the surrounding Texas Hill Country. Flat Rock Ranch hosts several mountain bike events throughout the year. The sweet single-track filled Lower Loop includes Pipeline Hill, The Evil Worm, Crazy Ivan and Terri’s Trail. The rocky and technical
Upper Loop includes Mount Park and Flint Hill.

Flat Rock Ranch DOES NOT ALLOW DOGS, so bring your bike, but leave Fido at home.

Land access fee is $7 per person/day.
Primitive camping with showers are available at Flat Rock Ranch and is $10 per day (this includes the land access fee).
