Join Central Texas cyclists for this traditional ride from Austin to the Shiner brewery. Cyclists will depart from Austin and ride 100 miles through small towns and scenic byways on the way to the historic Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. Rest Stops are located every 10-20 miles and will be stocked with food, power bar products, drink and cheering volunteers to keep your energy high. There will be port o potties and hand sanitizer at each stop.
The Hill Country Ride for AIDS – Austin, TX
The Hill Country Ride for AIDS is an annual cycling event that rolls through beautiful Central Texas. Register now for our Ride rolling out on April 30th, 2011! Riders and volunteers provide life saving support for thousands of Central Texans living with HIV/AIDS by raising money for 10 local nonprofit organizations. It’s a Ride, not a race, and all levels are welcomed and celebrated. You choose the distance that best suites you: 13, 27, 45, 70, 100 miles, and all routes are fully supported with helpful volunteers. Our free training rides will help you prepare for any distance. You can choose to ride individually or you can start a team with friends, officemates, family members, or anyone you know. This is a Ride for the whole family, including special pricing for the kids.

7:00 – 8:00 am / Riders arrive at Reunion Ranch
8:30 am / Ride out! (Riders will return throughout the day to celebrate at Reunion Ranch)
11:30 – 5:00 pm / Food served at Reunion Ranch
4:00 pm / Route closes, ALL Riders are back at Reunion Ranch for Closing Celebration
5:00 pm / The Hill Country Ride for AIDS is officially over

This ride is scheduled, but details are not yet up. Check the ride site for registration and details in the coming months. The Red Poppy Ride benefits the SERTOMA Scholarship Fund for Georgetown ISD as well as the Georgetown Police Department Impact Unit (Bike Patrol Unit). Last year’s course was 14, 30, 45, 62 or 100 miles on beautiful country roads through picturesque Williamson County.

Distances: 15, 35, 45 and 65 miles
The ride will take you through the scenic back roads of Florence and Williamson County. There will be rest stops supported by local organizations providing all of the necessities. SAG and EMS will be provided as well. If you do not pre-register, you will not be guaranteed a shirt. T-shirt orders must be in by March 18th. Registration includes lunch: turkey sandwich, chips, ice tea, water or lemonade. The 4th Annual Old World Stone Carving Competition and Art Show will also be taking place on April 9, 11 AM- 6 PM.
