About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

January 2nd Texas Bicycling News and Updates

2010 – Looking Back
from Biking In Dallas by Christopher Curnutt
Hubbard and I started this blog a little over  a year ago with the intent of promoting casual cycling, encouraging the recycling/reuse of used bikes, and advocating for better bicycle infrastructure in Dallas County.  It’s …

Cycling and Sailing – A couple of exclamation points for 2010
from Don Bynum’s Blog by donbynum
…The Texas Hill Country is rich with opportunities for such self-abuse, so I laid out a course which… if we could live through it and get it done in 8 or 9 hours… we could do in one day.  If we did only the outbound half of this ride, we could with confidence challenge…

I do not normally include my ride comments in the daily update but I am sneaking them in this time. Cold temperatures and a busy Sunday kept me off the bike today. January is a challenging month to get my riding in. It is forecast to warm up some on Tuesday so I hope to get the Motobecane 700HT MTB on the trails that evening. I hope your 2011 is off to a good riding start. The Jalapeno 100 in February is looking inviting because I want some warm weather. Harlingen in February was warm the last time I went there. No wonder the snow birds flock there.
