After three weeks spent pedaling down the west coast, through sunshine, rain and wind, Jeff Castelaz unclipped from his bike for the last time last Thursday at the Sunset Boulevard headquarters of two organizations he’s co-founded — Dangerbird Records and The Pablove Foundation.

As we move east we passed into another time zone today, we’re now operating in Central time as we cross Texas. That pushes everything back an hour and we no longer have to rise at 5:00 am to leave at 6AM because it stays dark until 8:15.
This ride is all about the people we meet and today was no exception. This morning we ate breakfast in Sierra Blanca. A nice young man named Trevor John Rivera, was our waiter. As we talked to him, we learned that he was a high school sophomore and played on his high school football team. Because the schools are so small, they play football with six on a team. His total team consisted of a grand total of 12 players! He played a game last night and unfortunately lost.
