About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Texas Bicycling Blog and News Roundup for September 24th

Texbiker.net Posted on September 24, 2010 by Rick AnkrumSeptember 24, 2010

Normally I let the Velonews and other professional websites be sources for products information but I wanted to include the new product release from CamelBak since they started in Texas. This year’s product enhancements solve a couple of issues I have had when I use my CamelBak. One issue they have yet to address is the tendency of the bite valve to be a grapple hook around loose items. No matter how much I try the bite valve always grabs something.

The newest high school sport? Mountain bike racing
by Austin 360, By Pamela LeBlanc
Not every school kid wants to play football, even in Texas.

With the creation of the Texas High School Mountain Bike Racing League, budding athletes will soon be able to look beyond traditional offerings like basketball, baseball and volleyball to a scrappy sport that sends them careening down dirt trails and tearing over roots and rocks.
