This is a transcript from the ten o’clock news broadcast.
The city of Ronam, Texas disappeared overnight, seemingly swallowed up by the earth itself in a cataclysm of Biblical proportions.
Billy Bob Ignatowski, Ronam city manager, was fortunate to survive the devastation through an accident of timing. He was out of town for a church convention in Dallas when news of the disaster reached him. He has this to say for local television:

I found it here in East Dallas on Craigslist for $125.00. At the time, it was the most that I had paid for a used bicycle. The guy that I bought it from told me that he found it in his mother’s attic when he helped her move. It had apparently been owned by his step-father and had sat up there for almost 25 years. Magnolia Randonneur: Knee pain messes up 300k

Well, not the best cycling day.
Pat, Matt, Doug, LeRoy and I all started my Natchez Trace Lil Mountain 300 k in very cold 30 something weather. The forecast was for the temps to reach the low 60s. The start was very cold. I guess I was thinking 60 and not 30 at the ride start!
For whatever reason, I started having knee pain behind my knee at mile 12 of what would end up being a 159 mile ride. I am guessing I have started sitting lower on my seat and thus I am closer to the pedals which would cause pain behind the knee. I am also still having problems…

Saturday was lining up to be a good day to ride. The temperature was to be mid-60’s and the wind 13-15. Since our average wind speed is 12, what was new? So a ride was called for 1 pm to start at the old Toni’s Restaurant outside of Christoval. I started the morning with a good breakfast of red curry chicken, rice and eggs. The race didn’t start till 11:20 so I had more than the 3 hour window to digest and build my glycogen stores.
