BP MS150 To Start Sunday in La Grange
According to the Saturday edition of the Houston Chronicle:
Organizers began revising plans 12 hours before 13,000 cyclists were planning to line up for ride, as powerful storms moved through the Houston area.
“We’re having to cancel Day 1 because of unsafe conditions along the route to La Grange and at the Fayette County Fairgrounds,†said Gena Hyde, communications manager for the Lone Star Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The ride will now begin at 8 a.m. at the Fayette County Courthouse, 151 N. Washington, in La Grange, rather than the county fairgrounds which were deluged by the rain storms.
The cyclists are expected to make their own transportation arrangements to La Grange. Due to parking shortages, they are asking riders to car pool or arrange to be dropped off. Organizers stated they will be providing rider and bike transportation to La Grange from Austin on Sunday evening and transportation from Austin to Tully Stadium in Houston.
Other details, including the ride route, had not been determined by press time. The group’s Web site is MS150.org.
