About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Thank goodness for the Tour of California. I’m still laid up recovering from the flu, so all I can do is think about cycling, read about cycling, watch cycling and clean my bike. I already re-taped the handlebars to bring in some color …

Nearly Famous Fred – Texas Cyclist: Oh, the horror

by Nearly Famous Fred

When I posted a few weeks ago that there was nothing more boring than watching a flat stage of a pro cycling race, I might have been mistaken. I had forgotten how mind numbingly boring an individual time trial can be to watch. … I recently came into possession of some very nice Trek bicycles, complete with the Astana paint scheme, that I’m looking to sell. One is actually a tricked out time trial bike. Any interested parties should post a comment on this blog. …

In My Opinion, I am right: My Road Rage

by Kevin W

It is fun to moo at cows when you are riding. 5. Yes, it is normal to feel every single bump in the road. 6. When they say it feels terrible to be “dropped”, it is the truth. 7. Flying down hills is as much fun now as it was when you were a kid but now it’s faster. 8. When I am wearing my bike shorts and stop at a convenient store people avoid making eye contact. 9. Padding cycling shorts are awesome. …

Abductedcow » Mas o Menos

by wadeferd

As we stared into the guts of Germ’s Subaru in Junction, Texas looking at the smoking viscous mass that had spewed onto one of the catalytic converters (yes there’s two – twice pipes, dude), I realize that things are a bit more complicated these days. … The purpose for our little jaunt west, was of course the Mas o Menos Marathon mountain bike race in Terlingua – 30 miles (or 60 depending on your stupidity level) of serious suffering through the Chihuahuan desert. …
