While this is not from a Texas newspaper I was somewhat surprised to see the New York Times publish a two page article on the new electronic shifting drive train from Shimano. If this rather pricy groupo gains popularity you can expect to see this on bikes at races and rides in Texas. Instead of hearing clicks from SLI levers you might hear the whirr of the small electric motors shifting gears. This would mean another battery to watch for in addition to your bike computer.
Team Columbia will be using this gear at the Tour of California this week.
