About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Bicycles bring cheer to Austin Texas children

Texbiker.net Posted on December 20, 2008 by Rick AnkrumDecember 20, 2008

from kxan.com

by Jackie Vega

The idea of putting bicycles in the hands of Texas children all started with the creation of a T-shirt logo consisting of a bunch of bike parts, which later sparked the idea of promoting the goodness of cycling. It is because of this idea that 90 children in Austin received a bicycle early Saturday morning in recognition for the sacrifice their parents make in the Texas National Guard.

…Bikes for Goodness Sake coordinated its efforts and donated 533 bikes to children of troops across Texas, landing bikes in the hands of 90 local children of deploying troops. With the help of Bucks Bikes , troops in uniform were able to take their children to receive bikes, helmets and a safety lesson Saturday morning. It is something that means a lot to the children.

from The Brownsville Herald

By ED ASHER/Valley Morning Star

Children of local soldiers preparing for deployment to a war zone received early Christmas presents Saturday.

Forty-eight bicycles and helmets were handed out as children lined up at Bicycle World on South 77 Sunshine Strip.

The gifts were made available through the Bikes for Goodness Sake Foundation, a nonprofit started in Austin last year.

The group’s goal this year was to provide 600 bicycles to children of military personnel in 10 Texas cities.

Jethawk Live

Texbiker.net Posted on December 20, 2008 by Rick AnkrumDecember 20, 2008

I stumbled upon this blog today. The “About” says, “A couple of road racers moving up through the ranks to CAT 2, while giving you our perspective on racing and training with power meters, setbacks we encounter in everyday life, and whatever else we feel like ranting about.”

If you want to keep up with their progress visit Jethawk Live. I am not sure what the title refers to. They appear to be connected to The Wodlands Cycling Club.
