About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Tour de Gruene Recap – Livestrong Blog

Texbiker.net Posted on November 3, 2008 by Rick AnkrumNovember 3, 2008

Chris Brewer at Livestrongblog.org gives a detailed report of Lance Armstrongs prep, race and results. There are pictures as well.

An excerpt, “While the history was there, it’s doubtful that anyone would have picked Gruene, Texas as the start of Lance Armstrong’s historic comeback to professional road racing. Back in 1996 it was a very different story as Lance, who admittedly “barely could ride a bike” due to cancer treatments, rode with legendary Eddy Merckx in a ceremonial Time Trial circuit. Then in 1997 he rode with teammate Kevin Livingston notching a 2nd place result.”

More than 100 Women of all ages gathered in Waco Saturday morning for the 4th annual Ride Cameron Park.

Some even came from as far as Arkansas and Oklahoma. They came to learn about the sport of mountain biking. But the event is also showing those unfamiliar with the activity, just what the park has to offer.

Park Ranger Kim Jennings said visiting the park is always a pleasant surprise to visitors who have never been.

MTB Law Girl Rides Rocky Hill Ranch

Texbiker.net Posted on November 2, 2008 by Rick AnkrumNovember 2, 2008

According to her blog, MTB Law Girl, lives and rides out of Austin. On November 2nd she wrote an extensive account of her riding at Rocky Hill Ranch near Smithville.

Her account begins, “Over the last couple of months we have explored trails that are south – southwest of town so we decided to explore the east side yesterday. We ventured out to Rocky Hill Ranch which is located in Smithville, about an hour + drive from Austin. There’s 25 miles of mountain bike trails, a cafe, and camping. Based on what we’ve heard, it’s basically a mountain biker’s paradise where you can ride all day, camp out and ride all day again”
