About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Michael V. Hannigan’s Valero MS 150 Bike Tour

Texbiker.net Posted on October 10, 2008 by Rick AnkrumOctober 10, 2008

from www.malakoffnews.net

Somewhere on a highway between San Antonio and Corpus Christi last weekend God smote me.

And the thing is I was due a good smiting.

Last Saturday and Sunday I participated in the Valero MS 150 Bike Tour. The Valero MS 150 – also known as the “Bike to the Beach” – is a 150-mile, two-day bicycle ride between the aforementioned San Antonio and Corpus Christi. There were more than 3,000 riders involved.

from www.kfoxtv.com

by Arleen Barrios

There are plans to add bike lanes along both sides of Belvidere Street in west El Paso. The bike path would start at the top of Belvidere Street to Mesa Street.

City representatives Beto O’Rourke and Ann Morgan Lily along with the city’s engineering department are proposing the bike lanes in an effort to provide El Pasoans with more transportation alternatives. A public meeting is being held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Dorris Van Doren Regional Branch Library at 551 Redd Road.

Velo Valero Recaps Bike MS: Valero Bike to the Beach

Texbiker.net Posted on October 9, 2008 by Rick AnkrumOctober 9, 2008

Captain’s Blog

Good morning and happy Wednesday! …It’s hard to believe that just a few days ago many of us were climbing up the massive Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christi.  Hopefully everyone has recovered physically from this incredible challenge (and forgotten about the brutal headwinds and the lines for the showers), and is ready to saddle up do it all again next year.  As I mentioned earlier, if you have a story you want to share and/or some photos, please send them to cycling@valero.com and I’ll get them posted to our web site.     We already have a number of Rider Testimonials loaded, and our Photo Gallery is growing every day.

Lots of pictures and ride highlights.
