Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Tour de Gruene Bicycle Classic – Gruene, TX

Oompah bands, lederhosen, and abundant Bavarian food and drink. The history, charm, and ambiance of the little town of Gruene, a beautiful bicycle ride along the banks of the sparkling Guadalupe River, antique and classic bicycles, and Gruene Hall – where Texas style boot-scootin’ has polished its wood floors for more than a hundred years. Yep, we’re brewin’ up quite a ride for our 25th Anniversary.

7:00 a.m.        Registration opens at Gruene Hall for tour packet pickup and tour late registration (All participants – even if pre-registered – will be required to sign an event specific liability release before picking up their tour packets)
9:00 a.m.          All 3 tours begin from Gruene Hall
10:00 a.m.          Antique bicycle show begins at Gruene Hall
11:00 a.m.         Wurstfest Opens in New Braunfels at Wursthalle
2:00 p.m.         Live Music in Gruene Hall!

Ennis FFA Benefit Bicycle Ride – Ennis, TX

Heroes Ride – Montgomery, TX

A challenging ride through some of the hills of west Montgomery County. The route consists of an outer loop, an inner loop, and a short, kid friendly ride.

  • The ride starts at 8:00am with no riders leaving after 8:30.
  • There are three routes, 8 miles, 33 miles and 50 miles.
    • The 50 mile route follows Route A then Route B (Outer Loop then an Inner Loop)
    • The 30 mile route is just Route A (Outer Loop only
    • the 8 mile Route is Route C only
  • Registration is fifty dollars per person, for children under thirteen registration is 15 dollars (must have adult escort at all times).
