Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Couple biking to center of all 50 states stop in Midland

After about 9,200 miles on their tandem bike, 56 jars of Skippy peanut butter and a stop at the center of 32 states, Aaron and Laura Beese will start pedaling toward their 33rd state this morning.

“It’s not a destination in anyone else’s mind but ours,� said Aaron Beese of their two year journey that will take them to the geographic center of all 50 states — which in Texas is just north of Brady.

Kyle Bennett headed to Beijing in BMX

American BMX riders Jill Kintner and Kyle Bennett have earned two coveted tickets to Beijing — and two more men’s spots remain up for grabs.

Bennett, 29, came into the 2008 season with a sizable lead in the rankings thanks to his victory at the 2007 UCI world championships. The Conroe, Texas, native took the 2008 USA Cycling national title, and then secured his spot for the Olympics with a fourth-place finish at the May 10 Supercross race in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Bicycle Safety Rodeo for Children – Dallas, Texas

The Dallas Police Department, Dallas Children’s Charities, McDonalds and Fiesta team up to hold a free Bicycle Safety Rodeo for children under 12 years of age on Saturday June 7, 2008 from 9 AM – 12 Noon at 700 West Jefferson, Dallas, Texas 75208. Children will complete a bicycle safety rodeo course and completion certificate will be presented to each child. The rodeo is designed to teach young cyclists the fundamentals of bike safety including bicycle laws in a fun and safe environment. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycle but extra bikes will be on site for children to use.
