About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

from The Fort Worth Star-Telegram

By ERIC RANSOM
Special to the Star-Telegram

“Metro VW Cycling had to adjust its strategy when one of its top sprinters dropped out, but in end, teamwork earned Christian Helmig the victory in the Pro Category 1 and 2 race at the Texas State Criterium Championships on Monday.

The Championships featured nine races throughout the day on the 1-mile figure eight course around the Fort Worth Cultural District.”

4th Annual Comanche Cyclone Bicycle Tour – Comanche, TX

Texbiker.net Posted on May 26, 2008 by Rick AnkrumMay 26, 2008

Rides of 10, 22, 28, 42, 55 & 75 miles. All on paved two-lane farm-to-market roads, and country highways with wide shoulders. The routes have some flat runs, long stretches with gradual inclines, and some hills that could be challenging for less experienced or less fit riders. Check the route information by using the”Ride Day Routes” tab at the top of the page.

Also be sure to check the special route for youngsters 10 and under. It’s very safe and carefully monitored. They’ll be able to do their thing — with a little help from Mom or Dad!

Willow City Loop in the Texas Hill Country

Texbiker.net Posted on May 25, 2008 by Rick AnkrumMay 25, 2008

The Austin American-Statesman

By Pamela LeBlanc
AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF

“Next time you head to the Hill Country, bring your bike.

From Llano to Fredericksburg and all points surrounding, miles of rolling roadways are ready to torment your quad muscles.

One of my favorite routes starts and ends in tiny Willow City, northwest of Stonewall. My husband, Chris, and I do the ride each spring, when we participate in the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center Pedal Power Wildflower Ride. The loop, also popular among bluebonnet-peeping motorcyclists, is part of the fundraiser’s 60-mile route.”
