About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Bike Noob Blog Writes About Saddles

Texbiker.net Posted on March 19, 2008 by Rick AnkrumMarch 31, 2008

Ran across this new blog from a rider in Austin. Bike Noob. As the title shows the writer is a new bicyclist. The particular post that caught my eye is his experiences looking for the perfect saddle. Visit his blog and read about it. Good pictures as well.

Tour de Houston = Fabulous! (Again)

Texbiker.net Posted on March 15, 2008 by Rick AnkrumMarch 31, 2008

Last year I used this same title and this year’s ride is a repeat. Weather in March can be unpredictable but today the blue sky and north tailwind for the return to downtown made the trip picture perfect. While the route this year is entirely different, going north instead of south, the experience of riding on the Hardy Toll Road without cars was special. It reminded me of years ago when the toll road first opened and the kickoff included a bike ride from the Spring toll plaza to Beltway 8 and back.
