Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Lions Biking for Sight Century Bike Ride- Montgomery, TX

The Houston Cy-Fair Lions present the 8th Annual Lions Biking for Sight Century Bike Ride on Sunday, September 29th. The ride begins at 8 AM at the Montgomery Athletic Complex

Cycle through some of the most beautiful Texas landscape in Montgomery and Grimes counties. The 24 mile route takes you past an exotic animal farm, while the 40, 62 and 100 mile routes take you through the Sam Houston National Forest. The 62 and 100 mile routes have hills, perfect training for the Bike to the Beach Bike Ride.

Century Buzz Bike & Skate Tour – Clute, TX

Start Location & Time:  Brazoswood High School Vocational Building 
  Bike Ride and Skate starts at 7:00 am sharp

Location Event Day:  Follow Hwy 288 S. until it merges with Hwy 332 at Brazos Mall; 
Stay on overpass. Count Lights.
Follow Hwy 332 to Dixie Drive in Clute (7th light turn left at Texas Gulf Bank).
Go to 2nd red light (Brazoswood Drive) and turn right.
The Brazoswood High School Vocational Building will be the 2nd building on your right.

Century Buzz Routes:  Routes all selected to be the best quality roads we could find.
Metric Century
All flatland, nothing higher than a highway overpasses.
Some in town but mostly country roads.
Intermediate Routes: 45 miles, 34 miles, & 17 miles (Subject to Change for 2007)
About half in town and half in the country.

Katy Flatland – Katy, TX

Routes: 100, 62, 50, 30 Miles
Directions to Ride Start
Take I-10 to Katy, Texas. Exit Katy-Ft. Bend Road (Exit 742). Gosouth. Follow signs to Katy Mills Mall. Enter parking area from east side. Follow parking signs.
Starting Area, Registration and Packet Pickup near Entrance #8.

Bluebonnet Express Metric Century – Prairie View, TX

This fully supported ride is one of the Houston area’s oldest rides and is presented by Northwest Cycling Club. Four different distances/routes will be offered, traversing both South and North of Hempstead staying mostly on country roads. Cyclists will encounter both flat sections and gentle rollers. This BP MS 150 recommended ride is only a few weeks before the MS 150 which makes this an excellent training opportunity.

Location: Prairie View A&M University – Hwy 290 & FM 1098, Prairie View, Texas.
Start: 8:00 AM
FEE: $25.00 until March 14th, March 15th to March 30th $30.00.
ON DAY OF THE RIDE THE FEE IS $30.00.
Mail-In: Application with check to NWCC – BBX, P.O. Box 1494, Cypress, TX 77410. Mail-in applications must be postmarked by March 20th 2008
