Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Pedal 2 Paris – Blue Ridge, TX

2 days of cycling, 1 night in Paris. 75 miles each day along quiet back roads. Overnight in Paris, TX. Indoor and outdoor camping available at the Paris High School. Includes lunch on the route each day. $50 registration fee and a minimum $200 in donations for the Samaritan Inn.

King of the Causeway Bicycle Tour & Poker Run, Individual Time Trial & 10K Race – Port Isabel, TX

Individual Time Trial, 9K Race across the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway and 25 & 35 Mile Bicycle Tour & Poker Run of the bay area of the Laguna Madre. Take advantage of this one time opportunity to cross the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway – normally closed to bicycle traffic and race to the finish line in front of thousands of spectators! Total purse $1,350.00.

9.2 mile time trials start at 11:00 a.m. with 1 minute intervals. Course is flat asphalt terrain on Highways 100 and 48. Time trial distance allows for do-overs with plenty of rest time for qualifying riders before final race across the causeway. Purchase do-overs with pre-registration and save $15.00. No limit. Only the best 15 times get to race across the bridge for the “King of the Causeway” title, prize money and event jersey!

Biking for Sight Century Bike Ride – Montgomery, TX

Cycle through some of the most beautiful Texas landscape in Montgomery and Grimes Counties. The 24 mile route takes you past an exotic animal farm, while the 40, 62, and 100 mile routes take you through the Sam Houston National Forest. The 62 and 100 mile routes have hills, perfect training for the Bike to the Beach bike ride.

Registration and Packet pick-up:
$ 20 if postmarked before September 1, 2007. Includes a T-shirt
$ 25 after September 1, 2007. Includes a T-shirt if received by September 10, 2007.

La Vernia Wild West HammerFest Bike Ride & Festival – La Vernia, TX
