Bike lanes shouldn’t be bike pains – The Daily Texan
from The University of Texas at Austin newspaper (full article)
By Jordan Frisby
Bicycling is a key part of Austin’s weird ethos. In other Texas cities, people are usually on two wheels only when turning corners quickly in their cars, but Austin is crawling with cyclists, from tight pants-wearing hipsters on fixed-gear bikes to UT students buzzing by pedestrians on campus to intense road bikers seeking the proverbial yellow jersey. This May, the League of American Bicyclists named Austin a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Community, and Austin’s many bike lanes helped the city to earn this award.

The Gearheads Earn Two Awards
from The Dallas Morning News Business Section
Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP’s Dallas cycling team, the Gearheads, has earned two awards from the Lone Star chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in recognition of its efforts in the recent Sam’s Club MS 150. The 153-member Gearheads were honored as the veteran team with the most growth, doubling in size since fielding an inaugural 70-member team in 2006. The team also was recognized for having the most improved fundraising. The Gearheads raised more than $108,000 during the May 5-6 ride, compared with nearly $43,000 last year.
