About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Austin Ridge Riders Receive $4,400 Grant

Texbiker.net Posted on January 30, 2007 by Rick AnkrumJanuary 30, 2007

The 2007 Bikes Belong Coalition grants have been announced and the Austin Ridge Riders will receive $4,400 to to build a critical stretch of singletrack in their Slaughter Creek Trail network. Bikes Belong funding will help accelerate the trailbuilding process and meet Recreational Trails Program deadlines by helping the committed grassroots group pay for a 2-mile section of machine-built trail.

The Slaughter Creek Trail system sits on Austin’s Water Quality Protection Lands. Mountain bikers of all ages and skill levels enjoy these trails, and the Austin Ridge Riders, Texas’ largest mountain bike club, utilize the area for their excellent programs.

Bikes Belong is the national coalition of bicycle suppliers and retailers working to put more people on bicycles more often. Through national leadership, grassroots grants, and promotion, we strive to make bicycling in the U.S. safe, convenient, and fun.
