About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Extreme Sports and Your Work

Texbiker.net Posted on January 20, 2007 by Rick AnkrumJanuary 20, 2007

I was listening to the BusinessWeek – Climbing the Ladder podcast this week. The guest, Paul Schaye, talks about how his bicycle riding is helping him in business and his battle with inoperable cancer. Mr. Schaye plans on riding several long events this year, including one in Paris, France. The insight he has is worth listening to. (No direct Texas connection but this applies no matter where you live and ride.) The podcast page The Extreme Career.

Slick Tire Tool

Texbiker.net Posted on January 20, 2007 by Rick AnkrumJanuary 20, 2007

For years I have used a Quick Stick tire tool. This tool is so easy to use instead of three tire levers. I have never pinched a tube with a Quick Stick and it fits nicely inside my seat bag. Once upon a time I bought them at Academy Sports + Outdoor but now I can only find them at REI.com. While fixing flats is not my favorite activity this tire tool makes it easier. The link.

Austin International postponed until 2008

Texbiker.net Posted on January 20, 2007 by Rick AnkrumJanuary 20, 2007

According to this article at www.cyclingnews.com, the 2007 race has been postponed to 2008. So if you were planning on getting close to some top name riders you will have to wait.

The official reason is the fallout from the recent doping scandals slowing sponsor signups.
