About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Sorry for the Site Being Offline

Texbiker.net Posted on December 16, 2006 by Rick AnkrumDecember 16, 2006

During the last two days you probably experienced difficulty getting to texbiker.net. I have moved the site to a new web host and between some programming issues and the delay as the DNS propagated across the net everything is back up and running.

FM 187 Gets a Facelift

Texbiker.net Posted on December 5, 2006 by Rick AnkrumDecember 5, 2006

According to a MySA.com article, the popular FM 187 near Utopia is getting a makeover.

“ As part of a long-overdue makeover, the 100-kilometer route linking Garner State Park to Lost Maples State Natural Area is getting extra-wide paved shoulders with fine-grade gravel — to ease handlebar vibration — just for the cyclists who have fallen in love with the area.”

“ The $20 million road reconstruction project, with its built-in bicyclist-friendly attributes, is perhaps the only rural road project of its kind in Texas, transportation officials say. About 15 miles of the southern leg near Garner State Park are complete.”
