About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

If You Can’t Get Enough Time on the Bike

Texbiker.net Posted on September 22, 2006 by Rick AnkrumSeptember 22, 2006

I ran across this at the Makezine.com website. Bike Design Furniture by Andy Gregg makes some amazing furniture out of bike parts, mostly rims and tires. When you think about the materials used in bike rims and tires, seating and swooping shapes come to mind. Read more about the furniture at the Bike Design Furniture website.

2007 Houston to Austin MS150 Registration Opens

Texbiker.net Posted on September 21, 2006 by Rick AnkrumSeptember 21, 2006

Registration for the biggest bike ride of its kind in the United States is now open.

Registration for the annual Houston-to-Austin BP MS 150 Bike Tour is open at www.ms150.org/ms150 for $50 per person. The minimum required fund-raising pledge is $400, supporting MS client services for more than 17,000 Texans living with multiple sclerosis.
As in the past two years, the 2007 Tour will accommodate 13,000 registrants, so riders are strongly encouraged to sign up early.  Registration for the 2006 ride hit 13,000 and closed nearly four months before the event.
The 23rd Annual Houston-to-Austin BP MS 150 is April 21-22, 2007.
