About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

ARR CRANKSGIVING 2022 Cancelled/Rescheduled: Jan 21, 2023

By June Bug | austinmountainbiking.com

up, from the Austin Ridge Riders facebook page:

With regret, we are rescheduling Cranksgiving to January 21, 2023. Due to the recent rain and the forecasted heavy rain for the rest of this week, the bike trails at Reimers Ranch Park are closed now and are expected to remain closed through the weekend.

We felt it was better to call it sooner than later so those who were planning on attending can plan to do something else.

A flip over the handlebars leads to scary discovery and thankfulness

By Scott Barkley | www.baptistpress.com

GRANBURY, Texas (BP) — January 27, 2018, was a cool and windy day in North Texas, but one that asked for a bike ride.

Ever since a torn meniscus ended his running regimen, Tan Flippin had spent considerable time on a bicycle to stay in shape. That day the then-57-year-old was riding along a stretch beside a subdivision – a stretch that had recently undergone some street repair.

“I guess they had a little bit of asphalt left over and put it on the shoulder,” he said. “I’d gone through that area before with no issues.”

Flippin’s front tire found the asphalt and he …
