Members from Carry the Load walked and biked through San Angelo Saturday, as part of a cross-country, five-route trek across the 48 continental states to raise awareness for the sacrifices made by military, veterans, first responders and their families.
“The West route, which we’re on right now, we’re going from Seattle over to Dallas,” crew medic Andrea Coles said while at a local stop in San Angelo. “It will be 20,000 miles total over all five routes, and we’ll all end in Dallas and cover all 48 continental states.”

Bike riding is big in our house. We just recently bought a used baby carriage that attaches to the end of my bike, and the boys both leveled up in size.

HOUSTON – For this year’s National Bike to Work Day, high gas prices might have prompted some people to give it a go. However, a new study of bicycle accidents suggests there’s a lot of room to make Houston streets safer.
The findings come from car insurance company, Jerry, which looked at Census and National Highway Transportation Safety data to show Houston had the fourth-highest rate of fatal cycling crashes, over the last decade.

As bicycles with colorful decorations and creative designs lined the trail Saturday morning at MacGregor Park, Timothy Chatman was sorry he came without his own set of wheels.
Chatman — who brought his 4-year-old daughter with him to see what was happening at the southeast Houston park — is a self-professed bicycle enthusiast and heard at the last minute from friends about the first annual Art Bike Festival taking place.
“I want to participate more,” he said. “Next year, definitely, I am going to have my own art bike with my daughter, she’s of riding age now.”

KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) – A child was taken to a local hospital after a vehicle struck his bicycle on Danville Street in Kilgore Saturday.
According to a post on the Kilgore Police Department Facebook page, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid to the injured child.
“Thankfully, others stopped to assist,” the Facebook post stated. “The friend of this bike rider gave police a great description, and officers quickly found a vehicle matching the description at a nearby apartment complex.”
