El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso group Velo Paso expressed their frustration with the Texas Department of Transportation Monday, as it continued to remind bicyclists in El Paso to avoid Transmountain Road, during its project to rehabilitate the roadway.

Biking to Work During COVID-19
For years I’ve pledged to commute to work by bike. And, for years, a number of barriers, real or perceived, have prevented me doing that. Too much traffic, takes too long, need to run errands at lunch, what will I wear, too much stuff, not the right bike, too hot, too cold… the list goes on.
Well, beautiful spring weather coupled with COVID-19 restrictions took those barriers down. I’m into my third week of biking to work and loving it! With some improvements for safety and cargo capacity on my bike, I look forward to making this a routine. I’ve been privileged to work daily with smart, fun people dedicated to increasing opportunities for safe, comfortable biking in Houston. Finally, I’m walking (biking?) the talk.

Bicycling is on the rise as a form of active transportation. We are ecstatic that many have rediscovered the freedom, joy, health benefit, and zippy mobility aspects of cycling. Our lives as we navigate the coronavirus pandemic has caused us to slow down and reassess how we can coexist together yet move about differently. Bicycles are providing much needed physical activity for sequestered folks and a boost to better air quality. With less motorized vehicles on the road, now is the time to assess the …

Hello Fellow Houston Cyclists,
My name is Nick Hellyar, and I am the new interim Executive Director of BikeHouston. Just a little about me. I am originally from the UK, but moved to Houston as a youngster. I grew up in central Houston attending West U Elementary, Lanier Middle School, and Lamar High School. Growing up in a dense part of town, I was acutely aware of how dangerous it was getting around by bike. Just to get home from middle school I had to cross West Alabama, Richmond, Shepherd, Kirby, and 59. I was lucky I only got hit by a car once!
In a professional capacity I began working in …
