About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Matthew Davis, Rebecca Larson win first Hotter’N Hell road race titles

Jonathan Hull | www.timesrecordnews.com

The grey in Matthew Davis’ beard is misleading. At 41 years old, he’s still more than capable of holding his own on a bicycle.

Just ask the rest of the Hotter’N Hell 100 men’s pro 1-2 field.

Everything worked out perfectly for Davis Saturday as he bested DNA Racing’s Tanner Ward in the …

She’s happy to be here supporting her son and is glad he chose cycling.

Gravel cycling takes off for first time in Wichita Falls

By Emily Bjorklund | www.newschannel6now.com

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) – With it being the first year, the Grava Del Fuego’s race director wasn’t expecting much.

“When I took this on initially I was hoping for 50 people,” said director Vicki Boyle.

Tonight’s first group of gravel cyclists, however, was eight times that.

“It’s just a lot of fun,” said cyclist Tony Pierce.

I Will Miss The Pilgrimage To HH100 This Year

Texbiker.net Posted on August 23, 2019 by Rick AnkrumAugust 23, 2019

In years gone by my wife and I would leave Friday morning to drive to Wichita Falls for the HH100. Leaving home round 9:30 AM we would drive north on I-45 to Corsicana where we would turn west on US287 through Ennis and other small cities. Usually we would stop in Waxahachie for lunch and to stretch our legs.

After lunch driving got serious with traffic increasing as we neared Fort Worth. Many times the road construction on I-35W slowed us to a crawl until US287 turned west.

One year as I drove over a rise on US287 the speed control sped up to compensate and a DPS State Trooper turned on his red lights and pulled us over for being 2 or 3 mph over the limited. After I explained what I thought happened he gave me warning and reminded me to drive safely.

Once we arrived in Wichita Falls we would go to the MPEC to pickup my registration packet. With the packet in hand and T-shirt safely procured we would walk around the consumer expo taking pictures for a Texbiker.net article and talking to people at the booths.

Once the expo was explored we went outside to watch the criterium race and the people cheering. With the heat still high we wouldn’t stay too long with my wife seeking out the rare shade while I watched and took more photos.

With the races still going on we went to our hotel to check in, take our suitcases inside and figure out where we would eat. Until it closed we usually went to Luby’s because we liked the food and choices. Once it closed we looked for other places near the hotel. Fed we went back to the hotel and I went to bed early to be well rested for the early start of the ride.
