2012 Bayou Adventure Race<\/strong><\/span><\/a>
\nWEATHER DELAY: RACE IS NOW ON SUNDAY
\nLocated in Terry Hershey Park
\nDate: SUNDAY, February 19th, 2012
\nTIME: 9:00 AM
\nThe 2012 Bayou Adventure Race will consist of three legs. The first leg will be a 5K run along Langham creek north of Interstate 10 and up onto the scenic hills of the Addicks Reservoir. As runners return back to Terry Hershey Park they will quickly grab their boats and paddle down the Buffalo Bayou for 3K until they reach the Dairy Ashford takeout. After carrying their boats up to the transition area, competitors will switch to their mountain bikes and race for 10K to 15k around the dirt trails of Terry Hershey Park and return to where it all began to declare a winner. …<\/p>\n

University Oaks (A Greek Tragedy)<\/strong><\/span><\/a>

\nI\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve successfully surpassed the number of races I competed in all last year these past 4 weeks. That being said, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve compounded about 3 years of bad luck into 7 races, where either mechanical or optical failure has prevented me from feeling like I was actually able to play all my cards well, rather than wing it blind when the chips are down (sometimes, quite literally).<\/p>\n

Sunday\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first University Oaks Crit was freezing, which is something you can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t say with accuracy in Texas all too often. Low 30\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in the morning, with a real feel in the mid 20\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s. A cyclocross friend of mine from Pennsylvania once told me he would sometimes wear surgical gloves beneath his winter gloves for an added layer of insulation and water proofing during the wet, frigid \u00e2\u20ac\u02dccross season out in the North East. With two pairs of surgical gloves (which ended up not helping at all) in my race bag, …<\/p>\n
