{"id":1306,"date":"2008-11-17T23:25:40","date_gmt":"2008-11-18T05:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.texbiker.net\/blog\/?p=1306"},"modified":"2008-11-17T23:25:40","modified_gmt":"2008-11-18T05:25:40","slug":"push-for-better-trails-in-beaumont","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.texbiker.net\/blog\/2008\/11\/17\/push-for-better-trails-in-beaumont\/","title":{"rendered":"Push for Better Trails in Beaumont"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>from beaumontenterprise.com<\/p>\n<p>by Gary Laney<\/p>\n<p>There are plenty of &#8220;trails&#8221; for someone to ride a bicycle in Beaumont.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, said local cycling enthusiast Eric Bender, they call the trails &#8220;streets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;First of all, there are potholes everywhere and they just aren&#8217;t a good place to ride,&#8221; said Bender, owner of a bike shop on the Interstate 10\/Eastex Freeway split. &#8220;Then, you have the traffic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Combined, those factors make Beaumont far from an ideal place to ride, although there are dedicated enough local cyclists to give it a try.<\/p>\n<p>Groups of riders meet at various locations four times a week to ride together through some of roads less traveled in the Beaumont area and\/or highways that have wide enough shoulders for bike riders to co-exist with traffic.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Beaumont Enterprise\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beaumontenterprise.com\/sports\/local\/cycling_enthusiasts_push_for_better_trails_in_beaumont_11-16-2008.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>link to the full story at the Beaumont Enterprise<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>from beaumontenterprise.com by Gary Laney There are plenty of &#8220;trails&#8221; for someone to ride a bicycle in Beaumont.
