Today before my ride I aired up my tires to 102 PSI and pedaling effort eased up from yesterday. Over today&#8217;s <strong>32.06 mile<\/strong> route my average speed improved to 15.2 mph and my max speed jumped to 22.5 mph. One thing that did not let up though was the temperature: 86 at the start and 97 when I finished. Humidity of 42% when I finished helped to lessen the full heat blast but not by much since the wind could only muster 4 mph from the SSW.<\/p>\n<p>The start time today was a little later than I planned (9:49 AM) but I still got back home at 12:28 before the heat started to build. Smog and ozone has been a problem for our area which is no surprise given the temperature and high pressure system holding us in its grip. With the heat I use my CamelBak for my water supply. Our automatic ice maker is having trouble keeping up with my CamelBak fillings.<\/p>\n<p>Along today&#8217;s route I encountered two other bicyclists going the opposite direction after a train crossed Old Atascocita Road. Seeing others during a weekday morning ride is unusual. They may have been trying to beat the heat. As I write this my home weather station has hit 100 degrees or more again. I want to get an earlier start on tomorrow&#8217;s ride.<\/p>\n<p>Ride information: 2:06:23 riding time, 32:43 time stopped, 78.0 RPM average cadence. Mileage marks: <strong>62.51<\/strong> this week, <strong>490.68<\/strong> for June, <strong>3281.06<\/strong> YTD.
