Bicycle Sport Shop – Cody Johnson, RIP<\/strong><\/span><\/a>
\nI regret to inform our community that Cody Johnson, our friend and staff member at Bicycle Sport Shop, was struck by a car while riding his bike on Riverside just after midnight Saturday morning, and has died due to the severe injuries he sustained. Cody joined our team in March of this year, but in that short time had become close friends with many of our staff, who are heart-broken about his untimely death.<\/p>\n

In observance of Cody\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s life we are organizing a short ceremony and bike ride on Sunday, November 11th at 9:30 am. We will gather at the Pfluger bridge over Lady Bird Lake to share our thoughts about Cody, and then take a short, casual bike ride around town. Please join us, even if you didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know Cody, but would like to let people in Austin know that every life is precious and that killing a cyclist will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n

\nThe Urban Challenge Rides are in-town group rides, faster and longer than the EZ Rides, each time taking you to different parts of the city each time. You should be able to maintain a pace of 15 mph and above for a distance of 40 to 45 miles, usually with one rest stop.<\/p>\n

\nRyan: When Kevin came to me and asked for a partner for 24 Hours of Rocky Hill, I was under the impression that he was joking. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve only heard, and seen, the likes of Rich Szecsy, Ray Porter, and the bearded wonder Mike Frazier even attempting this race. Surely two Cat 2 racers with minimal racing experience (in comparison to the field) do not belong at such an event. The inquiry came in around summer time, so October seemed like it would never come.
