My intent was to ride the Huffman route but as I watched the radar rain formations were between me and there. So I changed my route and headed north to New Caney. To be different I rode Loop 494 all the way from Kings Manor to New Caney. I don’t remember doing that before. In the last couple of years Loop 494 has been resurfaced and when they did that a nice shoulder was added. Traffic on Loop 494 is somewhat lighter than the northbound US59 service road. Contrary to the Huffman area going north showed no rain clouds so off I went. Normally on this route direction I ride through Valley Ranch housing development but today I stayed on the southbound service road all th way to Kingwood Drive. I did stop at the Porter Exxon at FM1314 for a large Diet Pepsi though.

Before my ride I went to Sprockets Bike Shop on Ford Road for a bike swap meet. I met James Webster who I have exchanged several emails with. There were several people there with a wide variety of bike parts and even some bikes. Two low rider bikes were on display. somebody spent some serious time working them.

I ended up riding 27.27 miles at a 15.1 mph average speed, 25.3 mph (SportTracks) top speed and 77.4 RPM cadence. Since this route was a little shorter than my typical this direction riding time was1:48:09 plus 47:06 time stopped drinking that large Diet Pepsi and messing with my cell phone. The weather held up to the forecast with 80 degrees when I got back home. The average temperature today is 63 so we are enjoying some warm weather. That will leave on Monday with a high of 50 degrees. If that happens I will be not be riding outside. Tomorrow, Sunday, should get to 79 degrees before the drop. My mileage totals: 96.84 this week, 154.73 for the month, 6431.89 YTD.

[wppa type=”slide” album=”64″ size=”auto”][/wppa]

I was keeping an eye on the weather radar because the sky had some dark clouds.
