The roads were generally in good condition. As I biked through the Kings River Village in Kingwood I started seeing other bicyclists returning from their ride. By the time I turned south on FM2100 from Old Atascocita Road I saw 30 to 40 bicyclists. They headed home when I passed the 13.5 mile point and biked on to Crosby.

Most of the time when I ride this route I go east of FM2100 and ride around some of the grass farms but today I rode south on FM2100 to Crosby. As I approached the railroad track crossing I turned left off FM2100 because of the railroad overpass construction. Based on my past rides I knew which way to ride to get around the work zone. I stopped at the Raceway station in Crosby to refill my water bottle knowing the lack of places until I got to Summerwood.

Being Saturday I thought Deussen Park would be crowded but there were not that many people. A couple of the pavilions housed some groups and I did see some other bicyclists. The park has a large dog walk and play area and numerous dogs and owners were walking around. I saw one person hosing down two large dogs for coolness or baths maybe.

Overall today’s route was 48.36 miles, a little longer than I guessed. If I had added the roads east of FM2100 I think it would have been around 53 miles. Now June miles total 641.86, this week’s miles are 176.35 and year to date I biked 3081 miles.

The weather forecast said the temperature would be lower today but I think they missed this one. It was 81 when I left home at 8:53 and 93.7 when I finished at 12:48. Partly cloudy sky and a SSE 6.8 mph breeze completed the scene. I continued the long sleeve jersey thing by wearing a blue one today. I figured with the longer ride the sunscreen would be sweated off and the jersey would not. I did take a sweat break at the Raceway in Crosby to dry my bandana and I stopped at the Shell station on W. Lake Houston Parkway in Summerwood for a Diet Coke and granola bars. At this the Shell station the iceman was delivering bags of ice. They must have unloaded 200 bags or more. Being a hot weekend calls for lots of ice and the Shell station should be ready.

Tomorrow heats up again with the high of 97. I plan on riding after church in the mid-day heat.

[wppa type=”slide” album=”173″][/wppa]

[iframe http://connect.garmin.com:80/activity/embed/331578466 470px 570px]

[iframe http://ridewithgps.com/trips/1430397/embed 95% 700px]

I rode the route I planned going to Huffman, Crosby and Summerwood then back home to Kingwood.
