On Monday, Nov. 25, officials from Tech Transportation and Parking Services received an award from the League of American Bicyclists, honoring the school as a bronze Bicycle-Friendly University.<\/p>\n

Bicycle Escorts Needed at the Dallas Marathon<\/strong><\/span><\/a>
\nGreater Dallas Bicyclists
\nThe Dallas Marathon is Sunday, December 8, and we need bicycle escorts for the athletes in the Wheelchair Division.<\/p>\n

The escorts are very important when the athletes are going downhill, silently, at 20+ miles an hour. The escorts have whistles and move the runners out of the way. They also change flat tires and offer encouragement on uphill sections. There are openings for both the Half and Full Marathon. (13.1 miles and 26.2 miles)<\/p>\n

Escorts will receive free parking near the start line and a big sense of accomplishment. Wheelchairs and their escorts get a five minute head start.\u00c2\u00a0 We will e-mail you a parking map.<\/p>\n

It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s worth a drive to Waco to ride a Kevin Fawley designed CX course: up-hill 180 right after the start straight, slanting section leading to a steep off-camber, asphalt section through the finish line, a fast sloped grass section, sweeping bend, U-ye, followed by a grip-your \u00e2\u20ac\u201cbars- then your brakes to be spit out onto the low part of the circuit which is exited by a genuine bike over the shoulder run-up \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and that is less than half the course. It was not overly technical, i.e. twisty, but there was plenty of room for mistakes, especially with increasing pace \u00e2\u20ac\u201c as I was later to demonstrate (demonstrate mistakes, that is, not so much increasing pace).<\/p>\n
