Houston’s deadly streets<\/strong><\/span><\/a>
\nHouston’s roads may be bicycle-friendly, but they’re not always bicycle-safe.

\nBefore the ambulance arrived at Waugh and West Gray on Sunday night, Chelsea Norman, 24, was found lying face up in the narrow bicycle lane, her bike in the middle of the road. She died at Memorial Hermann Hospital on Wednesday, suffering from broken bones and head trauma. The driver who killed Chelsea has yet to be found, and Houston counts another victim of a hit-and-run. A memorial bike ride is being held on Wednesday, starting at 7 p.m. outside the Whole Foods on Waugh where Chelsea worked.
\nThe deadly reality of unsafe streets once again tarnishes a year of bicycle achievements. It is a sad story, one that we hear all too often. But this single tragedy on Waugh is a greater symbol of public policy failure.

\nThe Lake Fannin Wilderness Trails contain roughly 4 miles of rideable singletrack along the shores of Lake Fannin just off the east bank of the Red River. The trail is very beginner friendly and easy and passes over a large number of bridges. The local community and trail builders have put a lot of effort into making this trail excellent. However, it does get less use than our big trails in the cities and as such it is not as more roughly groomed.<\/p>\n

The primary reason to visit Lake Fannin Wilderness Trails is for camping along the lake. There are several primitive cabins, a lodge, and plenty of tent camping. The trail is pretty secluded but does have the…<\/p>\n
