These public programs are designed to foster bicycle riding, safety, maintenance skills, mechanical and problem-solving skills, and leadership skills in interested youth. There is a need for programming that is age-group relevant and reading-level appropriate; is self-contained and self-paced; addresses safety and maintenance as well as riding proficiency; and that provides skills progression as the cyclist advances.
