It&#8217;s when it experiences setbacks &#8230; and survives.<br \/>\nHere at Green Lane Project HQ, I&#8217;m pleased to say we&#8217;re having trouble keeping up with all the protected bike lane projects popping up across the continent. Though we&#8217;ve just updated our database of proposed, planned and built protected bike lanes in the United States, cities of all sizes seem to be doing their best to make it obsolete as soon as possible. And as I went through the news from January, I noticed an interesting trend: even when bike projects suffer setbacks, advocates and&#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a title=\"http:\/\/amct.tamu.edu\/2014\/02\/race-volunteers-needed?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=race-volunteers-needed\" href=\"http:\/\/amct.tamu.edu\/2014\/02\/race-volunteers-needed?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=race-volunteers-needed\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Race Volunteers Needed!<\/strong><\/span><\/a><br \/>\nTexas A&amp;M Cycling<br \/>\nWe are looking for volunteers for our race on March 1 and 2! from there it took a turn onto pavement into a couple of lung burning climbs, and some nice downhill sections for about another 5 miles.\u00c2\u00a0 Then you get to the Isle du Bois (IDB) trail, which is some of the most technical single track in North Texas.\u00c2\u00a0 Rock gardens are the norm, with some sandpits thrown in to really test your skills, but overall the trail flows really well.\u00c2\u00a0 10 miles of this with a good bit of elevation gain and loss and then we headed back the way we came through the pavement hills, and finishing on the superfast greenbelt.<br \/>\nI was 1 of only 6 crazy enough to attempt the race on a single speed, and unfortunately did not pick the correct gearing at all (34\u00c3\u201422).\u00c2\u00a0 I was way under geared for the greenbelt and hills, but felt great on the single track.\u00c2\u00a0 For the first 5 miles, I was trying to keep pace with my teammate and eventual first place finisher, Mr. Big Pig himself.\u00c2\u00a0 He was pushing a much stronger gear (34\u00c3\u201417), and it took a lot just to&#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>New Events Added to Texbiker.net Calendar<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">New Event: North Texas Classic Bike Ride &#8211;
